Course Overview
This is a hands on 5 day course which fulfils the competencies set out in the PHEM skills framework at descriptor level D, providing the knowledge and practical skills needed to deal with a range of prehospital emergency care situations.
The course is delivered across two weeks, three consectuive days in week one and two consecutive days in week two, allowing for self study and reasearch in between.

• Adult, child and infant CPR & AED usage
• Emergency oxygen
• Traumatic injuries
• Catastrophic bleeding
• Shock
• Poisoning and intoxicating substances
• External and internal bleeding
• Helmet removal
• Neck, spine and pelvic immobilisation
• Environmental exposure
• Burns and scalds
• Minor injuries
• Incident reporting
Assessment Methods
6 x practical assessments/skills tests
3 x theory assessments (multiple choice question papers)
1 x invigilated exam
Requalification Requirements
This qualification is valid for a period of 3 years. The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified. Requalification training is a shorter course, delivered over three days.
